Aim of the assignment

Gain practice constructively critiquing and redesigning a visualization.

Instructions

1. (2 min) Break into groups of ≤3 students.
2. (8 min) Together discuss/critique this visualization within your group.
3. (8 min) Together list 3 tasks you want users to be able to accomplish with your visualization.
4. (8 min) Separately each student brainstorms 3+ redesigns of the visualization.
5. (10 min) Together pick one design and refine and sketch a polished version.
6. (5 min) We will discuss some of the designs as a class.

Submission instructions

One student should upload a photo of the final design to the assignment In-class redesign—hurricane funnels in Gradescope. Make sure to add your ≤3 group members to the submission (Gradescope instructions). The image must be a .png or .jpg file. Note: If using an iPhone camera, you first need to convert the HEIC file format to a jpg or png. See these instructions.
